Abstract:

The working title of his PhD thesis is \"The Republic of Kosovo and the WTO: On the Road to Accession?\" The research addresses the legal obstacles that the Republic of Kosovo faces on its road to accession to the WTO. It first addresses the relevant issues in international law relating to a new independent country in a process of recognition and the ramifications of this for its accession to the WTO as an independent state or a separate customs territory. Moreover, the current state of affairs in Kosovo is analyzed which will serve as a basis for conclusions and recommendations on the needed legal and policy reforms for accession to the WTO.
