Abstract:
My research will focus on identifying the qualities of rules that provide the best balance between, on the one hand, adaptable consumer legislation and, on the other hand, legal certainty and predictability. For that purpose I will study the provisions of six European consumer law instruments as well as the impact of two major technological and societal disruptions on the level of consumer protection offered by the aforementioned provisions. The disruptions I chose constitute one of the past, namely e-commerce, and one that is currently on the rise, which is platform economy.
