Abstract:
The use of AI in the legal system is becoming more common, but it raises legal, ethical, and social concerns. Current and proposed European legislations, such as the AI Act, apply to the use of AI systems by courts and classify them as high-risk systems. However, there is not enough research on regulating AI in the judiciary. Therefore, it is important to develop a comprehensive framework to evaluate the benefits and risks associated with AI systems and modify existing regulations to ensure the responsible utilisation of AI by courts. This will help uphold the rule of law and protect individual rights.
